TERMS AND
CONDITIONS

Welcome to Dust & Borders. These Terms and Conditions govern your use of our website and services. By accessing or using our service, you approve that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Our Role
Dust & Borders designs and curates private African journeys at the highest level of detail and discretion.
We act as a travel designer and coordinator, working with a network of carefully selected third-party partners, including lodges, charter operators, and guides.
While we only work with trusted providers, these services are operated independently. Dust & Borders does not own or directly control these suppliers.

2. Booking & Confirmation
Each journey is custom-built and space is often limited.
A booking is confirmed only once:
Your itinerary has been approved in writing
A deposit has been received
Written confirmation has been issued by Dust & Borders
Availability cannot be guaranteed until this process is complete.

3. Investment & Pricing
All journeys are quoted in USD unless otherwise stated.
Due to the dynamic nature of luxury travel in Africa, pricing may be influenced by:
Seasonal demand
Limited lodge inventory
Exchange rate fluctuations
Supplier adjustments
Quotations are valid for a limited period and may be revised prior to confirmation.

4. Payment Structure
To secure your journey:
A non-refundable deposit of 40%–50% is required at confirmation
The remaining balance is due 90 days prior to departure
For bookings made within 90 days of travel, full payment is required at the time of confirmation.
Failure to meet payment deadlines may result in automatic release of your reservation.

5. Cancellations
All journeys are curated and reserved well in advance, often involving exclusive-use properties and charter logistics.
For this reason, the following cancellation terms apply:
More than 90 days prior to travel: Deposit forfeited
60–89 days prior: 50% of total journey cost
30–59 days prior: 75% of total journey cost
Within 30 days: 100% of total journey cost
In certain cases, specific lodges or charter providers may apply stricter terms.
All cancellations must be submitted in writing.

6. Changes & Flexibility
We understand that plans evolve.
However, due to the complexity of multi-country, high-end itineraries:
Amendments are subject to availability
Additional costs may apply
Certain elements (such as charters or exclusive-use bookings) may not be changeable
We cannot guarantee that changes can be accommodated once confirmed.

7. Travel Insurance (Mandatory)
All clients are required to carry comprehensive travel insurance.
This must include:
Trip cancellation and interruption
Emergency medical cover
Evacuation (including air evacuation)
Personal belongings
Proof of insurance may be requested prior to travel.
Dust & Borders cannot be held responsible for any financial loss due to inadequate insurance coverage.

8. Health, Safety & Wilderness Travel
Our journeys take place in remote and wild environments.
While this is part of their beauty, it also involves inherent risk, including:
Close proximity to wildlife
Limited access to medical facilities
Unpredictable environmental conditions
By travelling with Dust & Borders, you acknowledge and accept these risks.
All guests are expected to follow the guidance of professional guides and staff at all times.

9. Liability
Dust & Borders is not liable for:
Injury, illness, or death
Loss or damage to personal belongings
Delays, cancellations, or itinerary disruptions
Including those arising from:
Third-party service providers
Weather or natural events
Political or regional instability
Transport delays or failures
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the total amount paid for your journey.

10. Force Majeure
We are not responsible for events beyond our control, including but not limited to:
Natural disasters
Pandemics or health emergencies
Government restrictions
Civil unrest or conflict
Airline or transport disruptions
In such cases, refunds and rescheduling are subject to the terms of our partners.

11. Travel Documentation
Guests are responsible for ensuring they have:
Valid passports (minimum 6 months validity)
Required visas
Vaccinations and health documentation
Dust & Borders cannot be held responsible for denied boarding, entry refusal, or travel interruptions due to incomplete documentation.

12. Flights & Transport
Unless explicitly included:
International flights are not part of your journey
Flight schedules are subject to change
Private charters and regional flights operate under strict conditions and may be affected by weather or operational factors.

13. Accommodation & Itinerary Integrity
Every itinerary is carefully designed; however we reserve the right to:
Substitute accommodations with properties of equal or higher standard
Adjust routing or experiences where necessary
This ensures the integrity of your journey is maintained under changing conditions.

14. Discretion & Privacy
Your privacy is fundamental to our service.
All personal information is handled with strict confidentiality and used solely for the purpose of planning and delivering your journey.
We do not share client information beyond what is required for operational purposes.

15. Media & Storytelling
From time to time, Dust & Borders may capture imagery or video content during journeys.
These may be used for brand storytelling and marketing, unless you request otherwise in writing prior to travel.
